Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 27, 2026
InfluenceCheck ("we", "our", or "us") operates the InfluenceCheck Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we process, why we process it, and how we protect it.
What We Process
- On-device profile metrics. On supported profile pages (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), the extension reads publicly visible page content in your browser to calculate engagement and disclosure results. This processing happens locally in your browser.
- YouTube channel ID. When a YouTube profile is scanned, we send only the public channel ID to our backend so the backend can call the YouTube Data API and return channel statistics.
- IP address and daily scan counters. We use these to enforce the free-tier daily scan limit.
- License key (if provided). If you enter a paid license key, it is stored in
chrome.storage.local and sent to our backend only to validate premium access.
- Locally stored extension state. We store settings, scan counters, trial status, license status, and locally generated engagement history in
chrome.storage.local so the extension can remember your preferences and premium state.
- Purchase data. If you buy a plan, Lemon Squeezy processes payment and provides us licensing records such as email, license status, and renewal metadata.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use collected data for personalized advertising.
- We do not run hidden tracking on unrelated websites.
Third-Party Services
- Lemon Squeezy - payment processing and license management. Their privacy policy applies to purchase data: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
- YouTube Data API - used through our backend to fetch public channel statistics.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use Statement
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data Retention
License records are retained for the duration of your subscription and a limited post-subscription period required for support, billing, and fraud prevention. Daily IP-based scan counters roll over each day. Local browser data can be removed by clearing extension data or uninstalling the extension.
Your Choices
- You can uninstall the extension at any time.
- You can clear stored extension data from Chrome extension settings.
- You can request deletion of account-related records by contacting us.
